Walk with Her is a county by county movement that will activate communities to be change makers in
the lives of vulnerable girls who need support in Garissa, Wajir and Tana River County through
walking!
Walk with her is our opportunity to show love, care, and courage to help girls access quality
education, to have the power to live a life free of violence so they can live their lives to their full
potential.
why Girls
The most vulnerable girls in Kenya have traditionally been identified as coming from the ASAL (Arid
/Semi-Arid Lands) regions. School enrolment in these areas is significantly lower whereby only 30%
(Net Enrolment Ratio) of girls enter primary school, out of which only 16.5% complete this level of
education.
Girls are denied their fundamental human rights to education and health care even though they are
the key to a better future for their communities. Pastoralist Girls Initiative (PGI) set up to support girls
from the Arid and Semi-Arid region where access to basic needs, education is limited and GBV
violence is widespread. Our programs are defined by promoting gender equality and empowering girls
and women.
How to Support
Walk with Her is a fundraising initiative for PGI girls program that are specifically designed to support
50 girls to have access to quality education in secondary, tertiary and University. The project will The
fully supporting in catering for all expense need for time in schooling. PGI will facilitate the walk while
the community will fundraise for the initiative. The Walk with Her fund will be managed by
representatives of the community, the ministry of education and PGI. This is a strategy to ensure that
communities participate in giving back to the less fortunes.
